¿Como esta mi gente?
Hey, I’m not sure if I will get pictures sent today because this
computer today has made it to my list of oldest computers ever seen. Oh well.
This week was really interesting. Remember how last week I said it’s
hard getting investigators to church here? Well, we made lots of plans
this week of how we would get lots of people to church yesterday to
overcome that problem and well… in the end we had not a single
investigator come. Yesterday might have been one of the hardest days
in the mission yet, but it ended really awesome. Let me explain.
Saturday we started our English class which was the only thing that
went well the whole day and even that got me a little worried because
we started 30 minutes late because how late everyone got there. There
were 6 students though and one isn’t a member which is good. So
Saturday was a ruff day.
Sunday morning we left extra early to start our gathering of
investigators. We even called the bishop the night before and told him
we would arrive late because we would be bringing lots of
investigators. Church starts at 9am, which is really early for people to
get up on Sunday, and to make it is even harder. Saturday night was the
cities "fiesta de la manzana" which is really famous in this city. So
lets just say the streets were really silent as we were walking.
We walked 30 minutes to the first family and the kids wanted to go but
the parent had already left for work, and so the kids couldn’t go
without permission. At the next house we got there and the door opens
and closes after seeing who we were. So we didn’t have any luck. So
sadly we went to church and got there late and the first thing we hear
is from the bishop is, "and the investigators...?" meaning
none had arrived by themselves either... So we stayed for a little bit
of the second hour class and then left again to try and get someone to
come before the Sacrament meeting started. But, still we got none. We
finally, desperately, started just inviting everyone on the street, and
still we got no one! I was so sad!
Sunday morning I honestly was thinking about what dad always said to
me: "the blessings always come after the trial of faith." I was
thinking that Saturday was the trial of faith and Sunday would bring
the blessing of lots of people at church. Well it didn’t and to top it
off all day Sunday was ruff too. We didn’t have a single lesson and
just lots of rejection. I was so depressed that I came to the
conclusion of what the hardest thing on the mission is. It’s when you
put in all your efforts to help but everyone tells you that you are
just bothering them. We then went to our last appointment at 8 at
night with some eternal investigators. I wasn’t too excited to go but
it turned out being the blessing I was waiting for. The lady told us
she was about to start a "stop smoking" treatment and she needed our
help to receive God’s help. She expressed to us how she wants us to
come by regularly to start helping her. She said that even though she
isn’t quite a member yet, she still knows it’ true and wants to
participate in everything. Really it was just a great lesson!!
I hope you could understand the general theme of the story. Well Love ya!!
