Guess who!! September 20, 2010

Well hello!

Another awesome week in the mission. Extra awesome yes because of the baptisms! We, as missionaries, do so much to help people make the decision to get baptized that when the day finally comes it’s amazing to see them enter the water. Then to see them confirmed the next day at church. There were 4 that got baptized. On Tuesday we received news that Celeste Peña, (She is the one that has the picture of just us and her, she did end up getting baptized though) wouldn’t be able to make it to her baptism because her family was going out of town and wouldn’t be back till the next week. So out of the 5 that were supposed to get baptized I thought we would at least have 4. So the whole week I thought she wouldn’t get baptized. Then Friday night we got info on Macarena, the oldest of the three sisters that were suppose to get baptized, that she couldn’t get baptized. So Friday night I went to bed thinking 3 of the 5 would get baptized and maybe 1 of the 5 if the sisters wanted to wait for their sister. Saturday morning we received a text from Celeste saying they got back early and she would be able to get baptized. So in the end, the two sisters got baptized and Celeste and the other boy Jonathon. Two sisters Fiama and Belen were baptized by my companion, Celeste was baptized by our ward mission leader Hermano Maradona and Jonathon was baptized by Hermano Faccendini from the ward. I hope all that kinda made sense?

We invited about the whole city to the baptism. A few investigators ended up coming and really liking it. Also our Adventist friends went. Yesterday we went to their house and they told us they weren’t too impressed with the baptism. They thought it was funny that my companion had to baptize one of the girls twice just because he didn’t say the name right. Oh well. They are still really good people. I am going to take pictures with them before I leave here because we have become really good friends even without me being able to show them in the bible that the Sabbath day changed from Saturday to Sunday.

The other picture I sent is an award that me and my companion got for having the most lessons with members in the whole zone, it’s part of a game we are doing in the zone. At the end of the transfer in two weeks we will see who won for the whole transfer.

A cool part about missionary work is actually being able to see the miracles that people receive by starting to put the gospel in practice. One was for some new investigators we found this week. We found them because there were two women moving a heavy clothes dresser in the road so we helped them. It was an old dresser that someone gave them because they just got here from Salta (north Argentina) 2 weeks ago and don’t have anything to put their clothes in. Anyways they became good investigators after that and one of the first things we taught them was about prayer. The other day they happened to find someone giving away a bunch of old supplies to build a house which just happened to be what they were in need of. She told us God had blessed her because she had started praying to him. I believe that’s true. The other one was with another investigator named Roxanna who put the prayer that we taught her to practice when her baby was really scared one night and wouldn’t sleep and just kept crying. She told us she said a prayer and then right after the baby fell back asleep. Blessing from God? Yes!

We also had zone conference this week which is always amazing! Zone conference is the healing, energizing, motivating help that we receive about once every 3 months. It’s that way because everyday we are just bashed and criticized by everyone else in the world saying all the reasons why we are false and at zone conference we get healed all back up.

Love you all! Keep up the great work and letters :)
