¿¡Que pasa?!
No they don´t celebrate thanksgiving down here!! not that I know of anyways... And its sad!!Probabaly because we eat unhealthy food everyday :) What day was thanksgiving anyways? what did you guys do? Have any cool pictures to send me? :)
Im not sure what holidays the have here. There was "Dia de Madre" a couple weeks back, but that didn´t effect us any haha. I don´t think halloween was celebrated here either.
This week was much better but I still want it to be better! We did tons of contacts this week because all of our investigators are either out of town or sick! But we found a lot of good people that I hope will let of teach :) and 3 families we are teaching are going to be in town this week.
The one guy that we have been helping him build his house (Mauro) the one we taught his family and his two brothers and their families we finally talked to again after a week and he had read 3 Nephi 11 and the first like 5 chapters from the beginning on his own! He told us he carries it around with him and reads whenever he gets the chance! I was really amazed. So we are going to continue teaching him this week and his brothers come back this week to help him some more with his house! Im really excited for them!
Oh! Yesterday we got to listen to Elder Bednar! He was in Buenas Aires and did broadcast thing for Argentina, Uraguy, and Paraguy. But instead of just giving a talk he actually took questions from everyone in all 3 countries by phone call. It was awesome! He is amazing! I wish I had time to write you all the things he said becaus they were really powerful! My favorite thing that really hit me that I really need to work on is how to pray with faith. How faith is works. He gave the example of a prayer in church how too many times we pray for those that arn´t here today to be here next week. When really the way we should pray is, We promise to all leave church today and go visit every person that wasn´t here today and the only thing we ask for is the inpiration to not all go to the same house. He said we have to many meetings and talks about the people that need help and do little to actually help them. Another thing he talked about was learning about the atonement. He told us of one time Elder Packer was asked to teach the atonement and his response was to read the book of mormon as many times possible in 6 months and search for things having to do with the atonement and then after the 6 months to summarize it all on one sheet of paper. Bednar said that is the best way to truly learn about the temple. One other thing that kinda was a slap in the face was if you have fear of sharing the gospel than you haven´t been converted because there is nothing more you will want to do after having truly experienced the atonement. He also said all members of the church have a testimony but not all are converts because a testimony is a manifestation of truth from the spirit but a convert is someone that is always helping the kingdom of God. I really got a lot out of his messages! How blessed we are to have Apostles and Prophets on the earth to speak with us!
Dad really memorized 1000 scriptures on his mission?!?! My goal is 1001 then! Wow maybe not... Im going to have to put some thought into that but that really is amazing.
I love you all oh and Im sending Rustin his Package this week so let me know when he gets it!
