Monson 5-9-11
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
¡Hola familia!
Man it was so good to see you guys last night!! Doesn’t seem like too much has changed, just the grandkids getting bigger and bigger!! It was kind of weird talking, I really didn’t know what to say. I’m glad you liked my mustache though! (Monson had stuck a mustache on, so when we finally got him up on screen we could see it – we wondered why he kept saying something about facial hair) What we did with my companion’s family was that when he turned the camera on for them to see, I was just sitting there with the mustache and started talking spanish. They thought I was my companion at first but then I just got up and left and they finally realized it was me.
I think part of the reason I was having a hard time talking was because this week was seriously the best week we have ever had!! I am here to testify that God does blesses his missionaries with success when they put in the effort! The week was amazing and just packed with miracles! I’m not even going to come close to be able to tell them all!
The biggest & most awesomest miracle was our baptism yesterday night. His name is Fabian and we found him knocking doors exactly 2 weeks ago! He hadn’t known anything about the church or ever talked to missionaries. He is from Colombia and way awesome. Our bishop and his first counselor (there isn’t a 2nd counselor) were against us doing the baptism so fast though. It was an amazing baptism and lots of members went to help and support. Lots of our investigators and a couple non members were there too.
That’s part of another miracle! The spirit was just so strong at the baptism. This one investigating family (that the dad, for now, hasn’t given the kids permission to be baptized) was there and they were all crying by the end! Also our "ma" (our investigator that is waiting for her papers so that she can get married and get baptized) was there and brought one of her friends. Her friend was already crying before the baptismal service even started! Then right after the baptism ma called me over to talk with them and she said she had never felt that way in her life and she wanted to get baptized and wanted me to do it! I was like holy smokes what is going on here with all these people! It was amazing!
Another miracle is that we had 9 investigators at church yesterday!!!! That is the most I have ever had in the mission and next week we plan on having even more!!! 2 of them came all the way from Cervantes (the little town outside the city we have been visiting) which is about 17 kilometers on a bus! She missed her bus stop close to the church and got off a little too far away and would have gotten there really late but a member offered to go with me and pick them up in his car! Talk about saving the day! Then that same member drove them all the way back home after church!!!!!!! If that isn’t support from the members I don’t know what is! We also had a packed gospel principles class! I just love this ward!!!
Oh and that’s not to mention that we had 11 students in the english class on Saturday (also another new record.)
I don’t know what’s going on but I’m just loving the mission! We are super busy. Those are only the start of the miracles. God rained down the blessings like crazy! We have to work even harder now. I love you all!!!!!!!
