Well hi!
Hey fam!
Pictures of our baptism and my new companion!
Picked up my new companion on Tuesday and He is so awesome! I have never had a companion so excited in the work. He is the exact opposite of my last companion. Not that my last one didn’t work, but he was just so laid back and quiet. My new companion talks a ton and doesn’t have any patience. I thought he would be a lot more easy going because he only has 4 months left in the mission (I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended with me). But a few weeks ago his girlfriend left him and he said it just killed him, and it gave him two choices, stop working and use it as an excuse or work more than ever to not think about it. He tells me he choose to work. We started working right off the bat and started working like crazy! It was going awesome. I never have had a companion that talked so much of how awesome the mission is. It really makes me want to work! Sunday though, he got sick. Something was wrong with his stomach. He hasn’t been able to use the bathroom for a while. It got bad enough we had to buy depositories. Before the mission I didn’t even know what those were but he is the 2nd companion I have had to buy them with and it’s a pretty embarrassing thing to buy. Today I think he is doing better.
Yesterday we had a baptism but it almost didn’t happen. His name is Isaias and he is only 9 years old. Tuesday we went over the baptismal interview questions. Well some of the questions are kind of more adult questions. We adjusted them for more of a 9 year old but his mom, I guess, thought we didn’t adjust them enough. Thursday we get a call from our ward mission leader telling us that the mom had got offended at the questions and had talked to the bishop and doesn’t want her son to get baptized anymore. Our ward mission leader told us that she said we had talked about all sorts of bad things. It really surprised me all the things he told us. That’s always a nice phone call to get. Well so we ran over there and talked to her and there was no problem at all. The mom had gotten a little worried and talked to the bishop but that’s it. But so many members of the church had spread gossip that it got horrible. The worst thing is that I was getting all the blame because I’m the elder leading the area and everyone thinks I’m not prepared. Everything turned out ok in the end though.
It’s partly true though. This is an amazing area. The ward and people are awesome and I am far from prepared to handle it all. I’m way excited to work though.
Love you all mucho!!!
Elder Tryon
